Leif Pedersen studied computer science at the University of North Dakota from 1999 to 2009. He has worked professionally in the field since 2002 at Meridian Environmental Technology, Inc. while continuing part-time school, earning a bachelor's degree in 2005 and a master's degree in 2009. His research interests have centered on improving low-level programming languages. He has published three articles on topics related to Pit, the programming language he designed. At Meridian, he started as an intern and progressed to a lead developer for designing web-based applications. Additionally, he assists in system administration for about a hundred Unix systems. In 2005, he founded Devpit.org, a wiki for sharing ways of combining Unix tools in useful but undocumented ways. Leif lives in North Dakota with his wife and two dogs, and enjoys inventive projects, music, and outdoor activities, especially canoeing and frisbee golf.
